Welcome Home

First and foremost, welcome! This is the new blog! I’m planning on making some hefty changes to the line up of posts from what I was doing previously. As I mentioned on Burntryce, my blog had turned into a daily outfit post, and I just wasn’t happy with that. I wanted to be slightly more interesting than that. And that’s just what I plan on being! I had planned on giving a whole explanation on what I’ll be doing here, but instead, I'm just going to give you some hints. I figure it makes it more interesting that way.

I plan on continuing with the outfit posts of course. Limiting them to only about three or so a week though. Frankly, I just don’t have that many clothes. No matter how much I remix.

Music is a huge part of my life. Playing it, listening to it, criticizing it, you know. So I’m going to be featuring one of my favorite bands, or albums, or even just a song, each week. Accompanied by some examples of what other things I’m interested in so that you can get a feel of where I’m coming from and gauge your opinion from there.

Fellow bloggers are the reason that I’m here today on Note To Self. I will be honoring them with an occasional blogger spotlight. I haven’t decided how often I will be doing this, but it will be at least once a month.

Film Friday will continue to run strong. Along with a possible History Hump on Wednesdays. But you’ll have to stay tuned to find out for sure.

It seems strange to be back to it. I even had a hard time screwing my camera on my tripod. Ha!

Starting off the new blog is…. an outfit post! I didn’t really want to, but I just love this coat too much and couldn’t wait to share it!

Outfit Details: Coat- Twins of the Mississippi Coat (Modcloth); Dress- vintage; Shoes- Madewell

I originally bought this coat because it reminded me of the one from Yes Man. The magical vintage one. I think you probably know the one.  It was way over my budget, but I had a gift card, so I said, what the hell! I have to say that I was a bit disappointed when it first arrived. It’s quite a bit thinner than I would have hoped for the price, and it’s also a bit more nautical that I wanted. I was determined to make it work though. The more I wear it, the more I love it! In this outfit, I felt fit for the Titanic! Besides all the iceberg and dying business that is.

Between the vintage dress, the nautical coat, and the nylons (yes, that’s right, nylons. The real kind.) I felt like going on a never ending boat tour of the world.

This is one of the longest dresses that I have. It always makes me feel as if I’m going somewhere much grander than I really am.

On a completely unrelated note. I strongly recommend not flying unless you really have to. Especially out of airports using the new backscatter full body scanner. You can find a complete list of airports here along with other FAQs about it. If you don’t already know about the new techniques suggested/used by airport security, I highly, highly suggest researching it. It’s a gross overuse of power. Don’t let yourself be subjected to their “enhanced pat downs”. Here and here are some information on the situation if you are interested.

I don’t mean to be a drag on my first post back. But this is just too upsetting.

Bryce!!!

My what a gorgeous coat you have! Love it :)

Grrr.. yeah, retina scans, ID cards.. you name it. Giving up privacy in the name of "safety" I am not a big fan of either.
