Outfit Details:

Shirt- thrifted by my brother, then given to me

Shorts- my Dad’s old jeans, cut into shorts

Foiled again. The dress from Sean’s birthday night is in the wash. And the camera we used to take pictures is M.I.A. Oh well. Instead, when I got home from work, and my hour drive home, I threw this on. All hand me downs. And I was lucky enough to have Sean here to take pictures for me. We spent quite a while exploring our backyard. Big trees. Tiny grasshoppers. Possible toads. It was all very exciting.

I was also lucky enough to catch the elusive Sean on film. Or memory card. Also, a lovely shot of a tree in our backyard.

Not much going on today other than beautiful weather! I’ll be back tomorrow with another movie suggestion for you!

Shirt- Target

Shorts- Thrifted

Shoes- Toms

Belt- Forever 21

This outfit is actually a couple days old, before I made that remark about all the blue I had been wearing. I just wasn’t able to take pictures of it at the time, so I thought that I would break it back out and document it. I told you I having been loving blue lately!

Also in reference to yesterday’s post, this is the swing set in my backyard. The swings are nearly disintegrated, but the wood frame is pretty sturdy. I’m planning on buying new swings and replacing the old dingy ones. Maybe even just chains with wood planks. That way they would match the rest of the set. That is going to be my first real project for the house. Yea, I have some pretty messed up priorities.

IMG_3071-2

I guess I’m just really excited for fall, because I keep putting together these outfits with horribly weather inappropriate items. And for some reason, I just can’t get enough long sleeves. I think it is partly due to my horrific farmers tan. Instead of remedying it, I am just covering it up, and ultimately giving myself another odd arm tan. Oh well, once fall and winter hit, I’ll lose any remnants of a tan I had and can start all over.

Sean’s birthday was last Thursday. (Happy birthday again!!!) And in an effort to catch up on some outfits, I will be posting the outfit from his celebration tomorrow. Then back in real time. Maybe. This whole not having a tripod thing really wrecked me photographically. I have some stuff I’ll be showing off, along with the tales from the days that they actually got worn. Then back to real time. :)

We’re Back!

Outfit Details:

Flannel, Shoes- Target

Skirt- Handmade

Glasses- Ray-Ban

It feels so good to be back in the swing of things! We got all of our stuff on Saturday, and have been working through it since. Luckily, we planned ahead and made a complete inventory of each box so that we knew where everything needed to go. I know, we’re anal. But we moved from two rooms in a house, to four rooms plus two living/sitting rooms. Needless to say things are a little more spread out then they were before.

I, of course, unpacked the important stuff first. Dishes, then tripod, then hangers, then clothes. To my surprise (not really surprise, because I figured this would happen) all of the clothes that I have been dying to wear ever since I packed them, were wrinkled. And I have yet to bust out my iron. Alas, I will have to wear the same few items just a little while longer. Hence, the skirt.

IMG_3050-2

I had an unfortunate time trying to take pictures today. The sun would just not make up it’s mind! I ended up having to do quite a bit of editing. Mainly just exposure corrections. But I am pretty happy with the way they turned out. And I must say, my scenery is quite a bit better than it was in California. This is my backyard. It actually ends right about where all those trees are. There is also a old wooden swing set and a couple of awesome trees that will no doubt make an appearance at some point. Driving around site seeing is getting me super excited for adventure photo shoots. I have already pointed out several places where Sean will be accompanying me for photo shoots. I am so excited!!!

This flannel from Target is amazing. I have been looking for some good plaid shirts for awhile now and almost settled for paying way too much for vintage Pendeltons. These are real flannel, not just thin cotton, and have great detailing along the shoulders. They look like real cowboy shirts. Just without all the funny prints. Ha! I also got a blue one but I have been wearing nothing but blue for the last few weeks, so I thought I’d go with the red first.

IMG_3054-2

It’s still about 90* out. But not too humid at all. Which is great, since I’m still trying to adjust from the mild California Summer. So what’s with my inappropriate use of flannel? I don’t know.

Film Friday

I need to start by saying that it has been way too long since I have last blogged. I am now in my new house. But all of our possessions have yet to arrive, which includes my camera equipment. I have a point and shoot that I have been using for small stuff. I just have been completely unable to take a decent outfit photo. The lack of outfit photos has left me lazy and uninspired. So I apologize for the two weeks of lacking. Saturday, our stuff arrives, and I will finally be able to take some pictures.

Since it is Friday, I am going to try to stick with my theme.

Today, I’m going to share one of my favorite movies ever. Heart and Souls.

                 514889_f248

Starring:

Robert Downey Jr.,

Tom Sizemore,

Kyra Sedgewick,

and many others.

Plot- “Harrison, Penny, Julia, and Milo all have unfinished business in this life. Unfortunately they find themselves all aboard a city bus that takes a tumble causing their four early deaths. At the same time, Thomas is born and the spirits of the unfortunate four are delightfully intertangled with Thomas' consciousness. When the four discover that they are to use Thomas to finish their business here on earth, they learn of what was important to each one of them and Thomas learns a lesson too.”

This movie has been one of my favorites since I can remember. In fact, Robert Downey Jr. has been my favorite since I can remember. It’s fun, lighthearted, and an all-around good time. I highly, highly, highly, recommend it. I don’t really know what else to say about it. Read the plot summary, then watch it immediately.

I still only have it on vhs. I think that it is probably time to take the leap in to dvd.

Wish Wish Wish

Fall is quickly approaching. And it is no secret that I am a cool weather girl. That being said, I am so excited for the heat to go away!

I haven’t been working for the last couple of weeks, and when I do start, the hours will be slim. So I am in major money saving mode right now. In order to fulfill my shopping needs, I am window shopping. Lots. Being home alone and bored most of the day doesn’t help either. The fact that the majority of my clothes are packed, and so is my sewing machine, is just the icing on the cake.

Enough feeling bad for myself. Today, I bring you: My Fall Wishlist. Featuring: Modcloth. There is no particular reason all of these items are from the one store, other than the fact that it is a great store. Modcloth is of the few stops that you can make online and find most everything that your wardrobe needs.

These items are the top two of each of the things I want the most. It’s basically a big “I can’t decide” list. Except in the case of the wool coats at the top. Big City Blues owns my heart! This could almost be a BB Dakota wishlist now that I think about it.

Jackets aren’t the only thing my eyes and heart are lusting after though.

Much to my bank accounts horror, I want all of these things. But Since my little excursion to Levis, I am not buying anything for myself for a while. Sean’s birthday is coming up and I have big surprise in store for him! But that’s enough about that.

Maybe some of these things will be mine at some point. And with a real winter in my future, I may just need to splurge on a nice winter coat after all!

New Friday

I have been feeling that ranting so close to the weekend isn’t good for anyone. So I have decided to change Are You Kidding Me!?! Fridays to Film Fridays. I will be mentioning one, or maybe more, film that either has caught my attention, or I just think needs to be mentioned.

For our first installment, I am going with something that I wouldn’t have thought to go with on the first go around. But after seeing The Kids Are Alright last night, it’s all I can think about.

Blindness.

      images

Plot: A city is ravaged by an epidemic of instant "white blindness". Those first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created "society of the blind" quickly breaks down. Criminals and the physically powerful prey upon the weak, hording the meager food rations and committing horrific acts. There is however one eyewitness to the nightmare. A woman whose sight is unaffected by the plague follows her afflicted husband to quarantine. There, keeping her sight a secret, she guides seven strangers who have become, in essence, a family. She leads them out of quarantine and onto the ravaged streets of the city, which has seen all vestiges of civilization crumble.

I thought of this one not only because every time I see Julianne Moore do I think of this movie, but because her and Mark Ruffalo are both in The Kids Are Alright.

This movie is fantastic. Depressing all get out. But fantastic. It was recommended to me by a classmate a year or so ago who happened to have their Netflix copy on them and loaned it to me. I watched it Immediately and went into class the next day feeling terrible about the world’s inhabitants.

I know what your thinking. That a movie being described this way is not one that you want to spend your valuable time watching. But it is no worse than any horror movie. And it is shot and acted beautifully! It is a commentary on the state of the world’s, especially America’s, people. War, poverty, corruption. It is all that taken to the next level. How would anybody react when stricken by sudden plague?

This is me living in Converse. This is also me being weather appropriate. Or trying to at least. It has been hot since about 8 this morning. So I have held out one more day on my recent purchase. It really is killing me! I’m so excited to show it off.

I am currently watching The Road. So far, it’s nuts. The end of the world came. And few survived. The ones that have, have resorted to many things, including cannibalism. Vigo Mortenson is an all around badass protecting his son from the crazies that are left. It was adapted from a short story that I have heard was even better than the movie. I made the mistake of not reading the story before watching it. I will have to go back an do that once I am done with my current book.

After I took most of my pictures, I realized that the camera was cropped in too tight. I ended up liking some of them too much to delete though. So I’ll consider that jumping one with no head as my blooper for the day. Since showing bloopers is now the “thing” to do. Not that I’m complaining, I love seeing the bloopers. They make me feel better about my own picture taking, since I myself usually have many.

Today was possibly the best sale at the Levis Store ever!!! All of the sale items were 50% off the sale price. For example, most of the sale jeans were $15. This skirt, which was originally $69.50, was $10! If you live anywhere near one, especially the Irvine Spectrum in Irvine, Ca (since I’m not positive that it was a sale at all stores), you should go now! And get a hand on these amazing prices!!!

I also got one other thing, but I’m holding back on my regular urge to show off all of my purchases in one outfit. So you will see that probably tomorrow, because, while I am being strong, I’m not that strong.

This isn’t as masculine as I have been feeling lately. But after I got back from shopping, I was on fire! So I had to change into something a little more weather appropriate. I kept the chucks on for good measure.
