Find of the Week

I discovered this amazing blog called good morning- midnight today. It is the female half a clothing designing duo of the same name. She posts inspirations and interests as they pertain to her daily and work life. They also have an Etsy shop where you can purchase the clothing that they make. Needless to say, they are all amazing. But unfortunately extremely out of my price range (A cardigan at $160, tights for $100, and coat for $1020).  The designs are modern in a classic way. Think mid-century modern, or retro-futuristic. Fantastic.

blog

These are just a few of the items they have available. The items all have a mod, spacy feel to them. I feel like they could easily been used in The Fifth Element. Maybe one day I will be able to afford one of their great pieces of clothing art.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Are You Kidding Me!?!- Bad Blogger

Yes, today’s post is about me. I started Are You Kidding Me!?! as a Friday substitute for an outfit post. However, I think that I have only posted once on an actual Friday. For that I am sorry. I wanted to keep my ranting down to one day a week. As to not scare too many people away. So I will do my best to stay on track and on schedule. I’m sorry for the present rant as well. It will now cease.

Dress- Forever 21

Cardigan- Target

Socks- American Apparel

Shoes- Mellissa via Gilt Group

Belt- from a different dress

Special appearance by Sammy!

I love this sailor dress. And it really works with the nautical theme that is so popular right now. But as soon as I saw it, I immediately thought of Sailor Moon. I guess it’s just that the bow is so high. The colors don’t match and the style isn’t exact, but with the bow and the short hem, that’s just what comes to mind.

I have been having some trouble styling these socks since I got them. But I think this is how it’s going to work from now on. I got the right height out of them without being too slutty, or too school girl.

Overall, I’m am so happy with my new purchase (the dress). And I have finally redeemed my purchase of these socks that I bought months ago and never wore.

All I did today was cook dinner, play on the internet, and go to Walmart. But it still felt nice to dress up. I like having a reason to wear cute clothes, and not just jeans and a t-shirt everyday. Not that I’m not perfectly happy in jeans and a t-shirt. I just like being able to be girly on a regular basis.

Sean is mixing a record for a friends band. And I am getting anxious to start ours. We finally have pieced together a whole drum kit. I like to refer to it as the son of Frakenstein. But it sounds great, like an old surf, jazz kit. Which is totally perfect for us. We put together all the aspects that we like best in drums. I should say that Sean put it together. But I’ll give myself credit by association.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Very Merry Un-birthday to Me

Outfit Details:

Pinafore: handmade

Shirt: secondhand from my cousin

This is my version of the H.M.S. Pinafore from Modcloth. I started, and finished!, it the other day. I’m so happy that I could start and finish something in just one day. It was more work than just a simple skirt, so it was exciting to get it done. I’m really proud of it. It’s not as perfect as I imagined in my head, but it’s still great!

I was tempted to style it the same as Erin and Calivintage. But I figured that I have taken enough inspiration from her in the last week, so that’ll have to wait. Instead, I put it with this nude colored top that I got from my cousin a couple years ago. It has some great detailing on the front that you can’t see. But I wanted something that would take as little away from the dress as possible.

I wanted the H.M.S. Pinafore as soon as I saw it. But like everyone else, I was having trouble picturing how to style it. And the fact that it was $117 didn’t help. I figured that I could make something at least similar, to curb my craving for it. And since I added the blue, I knocked down two of my summer wish list items in one.

I do feel a little like Alice in Wonderland. But I can’t say that is a bad thing. I love the hint of blue in it. Although I find myself still wanting something that’s all white. I guess that will just have to be my next project!

Long days and pleasant nights.

Netflix Saved My Morning

Now on Netflix instant:

Hey Arnold!: Season 1

 70136583

Rocko’s Modern Life: Season 1

 70136815

Rugrats: Season 1

 70136831

Angry Beavers: Season 1

 70136262

Thank you to the Netflix Gods for allowing me to catch up on the first season of all my favorite cartoons from my childhood. And even better than simply being able to watch these magnificent cartoons, i get to watch them instantly! So I don’t even have to wait for them, or fill up my que with them. (S0 Sean doesn’t have to complain about how those weren’t his cartoons and he doesn’t like them.)

I have to say, I was never a big fan of Rugrats. It seems that it was by far the most popular cartoon of the bunch. But it was never MY favorite. I was much bigger of a fan of the others. But this list basically sums up my Saturday mornings through junior high. Heck, even high school.

So if you have Netflix, get yourself over to Watch Instantly and check these out! All they need now is Salute My Shorts and Hey Dude.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Outfit Details:

Shirt- thrifted

Belt- thrifted

Skirt- dress from forever ago

Socks- Target

Shoes- Converse high tops

I decided to go lounge out in grass since it was so beautiful out. And I figured that it wasn’t too bad of a spot to take some outfit photos either. For the life of me though, I could not manage a single open eyed shot. The sun was shining full blast today. It still was a cool 73* though. Simply wonderful if you ask me.

I first had the top tucked under the dress and an under shirt. It’s a look that others pull of so well but that I have never seemed to be able to master. Today was another one of those days. I did wear it tucked in for a while, but opted for out as soon as I saw the first picture of me like that. Maybe I’ll give it another try some other time. For today, I was happy how it turned out over the dress. The belt added a nice vintage silhouette.

I made a skirt/ dress today. I am very excited about it! You’ll get to see it next time.

Because I like high contrast:

Unfortunately, I do not get to see Greyson for a while, the curse of living far away. But I can’t wait! He’s going to be amazing! And I hope your ready Chal and Amber, cause I am going to be the most fun aunt ever!

While I was waiting on news of my new family member, Sean and I went to buy some new drum heads for Sean’s new/ used floor tom. It used to sound horrible, and now it’s actually a musical instrument. Yay for Memorial day sales! And last night I bought  a tuning pedal for super cheap. Yay for still selling older models of things!

On the other hand, my hopes for a Seychelles Memorial day sale have proved futile. Oh well, I guess I’m just going to have to wait and save up like everyone else on a budget. I have decided, after the Madewells finally becoming available online, that I don’t want them. Instead, I am going for the Seychelles “Twistin the Night Away”. Erin owns them over at Calivintage, and constantly inspires me with them. So I have come to a decision that I must have them. Sooner or later (probably later).

Also I have decided that I need to be slightly more creative with my photos. It’ll help me be less of a bum about them.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Love!! Bryce

P.S. Two belts! I’m going for it!

Are You Kidding Me!?!- Forever 21

I missed Friday. So this time, it is Are You Kidding Me!?! Sunday.

I hate, so much, how Forever 21 only gets one shipment of items in. There has been so many times where I catch on to a style too late, and they no longer have my size, and they are not going to get any more.

You are a very popular store, with very popular items. I don’t understand how it can be profitable for you to get so few of one item in. I guess that you can always go online and by the item you are looking for if they are out in the store. But if I wanted to do that, I would have done that in the first place. I suppose it is because they have so much flux in the merchandise in store. Which I can appreciate. It’s just frustrating.

This same sort of thing is often the case with stores like Target as well. It’s not unheard of, it’s just frustrating. I end up driving around like a madwoman trying to find the piece that I want.

I, however, should only blame myself. I am stubborn and impulsive. I want what I want, when I want it. I hate waiting. And I hate settling. So, for most people, the problem with Forever 21 is not a problem at all. Only with people like me is it a problem.

I will leave you with a video from Sean and I’s picnic today.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Love!! Bryce

Outfit Details:

Shirt- from my first year of t-ball

Skirt- super old

Belt: Urban Outfitters

Socks- Target

Shoes- Minnetonkas

Necklace- Self made

Purse- thrifted, vintage Doony & Bourke

I love my backyard! There are just so many beautiful views.

I’ve had this shirt since I was four. It used to be huge on me! It’s strange to think that I was ever that small. It now ends right about where the skirt starts. Oh, how things change.

I have been ogling this necklace from Modcloth for a while now. However, being in the financial situation that I usually find myself in, I never got it. I found this pendant in a Etsy shop that I now have forgotten the name of (I know. Bad blogger!). I bought it for  $4 and got/ already had the rest of the supplies from Michael’s. It took all of five minutes. And I love it! So worth doing it myself. Not only do I have a great necklace for about $10, but I get to tell everybody that I made it myself.

The purse, I thrifted from “ ‘THE’ Thrift Store” in Fullerton. They have tons of great vintage purses and wallets and really, great everything. I need to make that place a regular stop. I also got a small black and brown D & B.

Long days and pleasant nights!

Grunge-a-holic

Outfit Details:

T-shirt- American Apparel

Plaid Shirt- thrifted little boys button up

Jacket- Tulle

Belts- Gift from my brother, Forever 21, and Modcloth “How the West Was Cute”

Jeans- Levis

Socks- Target

Shoes- Punkrose

I have decided that I want to start rocking more than one belt at a time. Right now, I am wearing three. A pretty good start I’d say. Lets hope I can make this into my “thing”. That would be awesome.

I like the 90’s. I’m a 90’s kid. I was raised in the 90’s. But until recently, I never realized how much it effected my dress. I’ve been complemented multiple times for “bringing 90’s grunge back”. This was never something I was really aiming for, it just happened. And you know what? I don’t hate it.

I’m also obsessed with cowboys. This I have always been aware of. My family went to rodeos my whole life. I grew up idolizing the modern day cowboy. It only makes sense that my favorite books/ book series of all time would be about a cowboy (sort of), a gunslinger really, that lives in a different world as is trying to save all whens and wheres from destruction. It’s called The Dark Tower series, and if you haven’t heard of it. It’s by Stephen King. It is not a horror, it’s his literary baby. And the first four books are the best you’ll ever read in your life. If you can get into them.

This outfit is dedicated to two of my favorite things: Roland Deschain and Nirvana.

Long days and pleasant nights all.

Sooooo, I didn’t actually wear this outfit out. I did have the intention to! But it ended up being much warmer than I had planned for. But it was just too great to not photograph. For some reason it reminds me of Terminator, before Arnold shows up. I also enjoy that my pictures came out so ridiculous. That’s what happens when I take my own.

I would like to take this time to say thank you to everyone reading my blog. I really just do this for the fun of it. So it means a lot that others are enjoying it too.

Off to make lunch a lay in bed the rest of the day. Working at six kills me sometimes!

Long days and pleasant nights.
