Dress- Forever 21

Tights- Sear’s

Shoes- Target

I decided to participate in the Teen Vogue Style Remix over at Chictopia. I choose an item, then remix it three different ways. This would be the first. Straight forward. My item is the dress by the way. I love this thing. I bought it at Forever 21, well, forever ago. I used to wear it as a tunic over jeans. Until, that is, I found Jenny Lewis and her tiny dresses. I wear this probably way more often than I should. but it is super comfy, and fits perfectly. Not to mention it is breezy and cool to the max. Which is a huge plus in the summer when the temperature soars.

I seem to remember it being only a fraction of the temperature last here than it is this year. And summer isn’t even over yet. Today seems to be the first day of the true heat wave. And I’m already complaining. Not to mention my soon to be move to Tennessee. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to hang. I’m a mega baby!

I previously couldn’t decide if I wanted to keep these boots or not. But I think I just decided to. I like them, I really do. I’ve wanted Dr. Martens for some time. And although these look nothing like Dr. Martens, I think that for an eigth of the cost. That they will do.

Now to go make plans with everyone I know before I leave! AAAHHHHHHHH!

Dress- Thrifted and altered

Under Shirt- Hollister

Shoes- Payless

The dress, I was once told, is some kind of traditional reverse embroidery dress from God help me I can’t remember. It was actually what I would consider a mumu when I bought it. I originally thought that I could pull it off if it was simply tied back. But the long sleeves and full length just didn’t do it for me. So I hacked off the end, the sleeves, and the sides. This is all before I found out that it was some kind of artifact mind you. I love it, but could never really find a perfect way to wear it.

The shoes, are a rare find. They were $7. Now, even for payless that is a great deal. I have been lusting after the Swedish Hasbeens for quite some time but have never been able get them, for obvious reasons (price being the key here). So when I saw these, I freaked. In a good way of course. At first I thought that they were too tight on my feet. I have very wide feet. And for $25, I don’t want to settle on too tight. But as I was putting them back on the shelf, I realized that they were on sale for $7. I think that they were the last ones. Which would explain the great price. I am so happy with them! And they are surprisingly comfortable. The leather kind of adjusts to the width of my foot, and the platform keeps my foot from being at any sort of extreme angle.

Today I went to an art fair in Santa Ana with my mom called The Handmade Brigade. It was pretty amazing. There were so many talented artist there selling everything you could imagine. We were also lucky enough to be one of the first fifty in line to a get a goody bag full of stuff from the vendors. Bows, and ear rings, and lip gloss and pins. I of course attended with no money, so was not able to purchase anything. But I got more than enough goodies in my bag. Not to mention a sick re-useable tote! If you are in the Orange County area, I very much recommend checking out one of their events. They are going on all the time all over the OC.

Are You Kidding Me?!? Friday- Young Bloggers

It’s been a while since I have done one of these. This particular subject is one that I have been pondering on for a just as long.

These young girls, I’m talking 11- 15 years old, are more stylish than most of us will ever be! I don’t know if it is readily available information on the internet, or just the sign of kids “growing up” earlier and earlier. I was a major tom boy when I was a young lass, so I would have never imagined wearing high heels regularly at age 12. I have nothing against this really. The girls that I am referring to are very modest and surprisingly age appropriate for the clothing they are wearing. And to get down to the point of the matter, I love them! And am quite jealous, I won’t lie.

The reason why I include them in my Are You Kidding Me?!? series, is this: How do they do it! How do they juggle middle school, blogging, sponsors, talking at conferences, and being so fabulous? Alas, this may be one thing that always will allude me. I am quite the procrastinator, so working hard, in a timely manner was never one of my best qualities.

These two girls are the ones who I think of specifically when I make this argument. Tavi of Style Rookie (13 yrs old) and Evita of The crème de la crop (11 yrs old).

I’m very poor, and I shouldn’t be buying anything, but these boots at Walmart were too hard to pass up. Kinda the same situation as that amazing hat from Target. Sometimes it really is just too hard to say no.

I also made a gif that for some reason is only showing up as a regular jpeg in blogger. Hopefully I can figure out how to fix this, because I really liked it!

As the move gets closer, I’m getting more and more nervous. It’ll all work out. I just need to keep telling myself that. I still don’t know about the TJ’s switch. Which is for sure the most nerve racking part. Either way. I will live. !

My eyes look ridiculous in that first picture. That’s all

Top- super old from I don’t where

Cardi, Shoes- Target

Skirt- handmade

Tights- H&M

Hat- Eugenia Kim for Target

I absolutely love this hat! I have been trying to find an occasion to wear it, and although this isn’t the best combo I could have come up with, it gave me a chance to show it off. I had no idea about Eugenia Kim let alone her collaboration with Target until now. I think that I kinda got super lucky finding this one. I was just on a routine trip to one of my local Targets when I spotted this beaut. I put it on and just started walking around with it. I was convinced of it’s greatness even before I looked in the mirror. I have to say, I probably wouldn’t normally spend $20 on a hat when I’m as broke as I am, but I could not help myself. I just love it!

The skirt is another homemade. I made it double thickness because I made it for my trip to Portland. Because of that, it’s a little wide and boxy, but so comfy. I had been looking for some chambray fabric and I found this at Walmart for $1.50 a yard! In case you don’t know, that is a great price for fabric. I mean great!

I had to take Sean to the airport today for another trip out of town. This time he should only be gone till Friday. That may turn into Tuesday pretty quick however. He is in Nashville learning the job of the guy who’s position he is taking. I should be following him out in the next few weeks!

Yes, it’s happening! We are moving to Nashville. I’m so scared. Which is natural I suppose. It’s a big move, and not without it’s complications. Sean’s work made it nearly impossible for us to say no to the offer though. Basically, my pictures are about to get a much needed improvement in the background department. Ha!

Shoes- Mellissa via Gilt

Socks- Target

Happy late 4th of July! Yesterday turned into a long night with the puppies. My parents spent the night out of town, so the boy and I watched the doggies for them. The big guy in the pictures is Dominick. He’s a blue pit bull, and the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. My parents also have two Jack Russell Terriers that rule the house, and the subsequent inhabitants of that house. Dommie takes it like the true gentleman that he is. I love that guy.

We didn’t see or put off any fireworks. Instead, we hung out at my parents drinking their beer and watching premium cable. We went to Portillo’s for hot dogs and cheese fries first. Not quite the block party bbq that you hope for on holidays like this, but delicious none the less. All in all it was a good night.

Ever since Joni Maroni’s closed at The Block at Orange, we have been desperate to find a good hot dog alternative. Of course Costco is always good for a cheap dog. But the hours there are a bit limited. We tried PCH hotdogs and they were okay, but nothing like JM’s. If you know any good places, please, let me know!

The Watering Hole

IMG_2752

Outfit Details:

Shirt: Miley Cyrus for Walmart

Jeans: Urban Outfitters

Shoes: Target

I bought this shirt for $7 at Walmart the other day. As much as I laughed about the Miley Cyrus/ Max Azaria collaboration, I have to admit when it yields something worth while. I also bought a romper a few month ago, but had to return it when I realized that there was absolutely no way that I if couldn’t even button it at home by myself, I wasn’t going to be able to do it by myself in a public restroom. I never had, but always wanted, a jean shirt. And now I have one for the extremely reasonable price of $7. I really can’t complain.

I took the opportunity of Sean being home to have him take some pictures for me. I was watering our pumpkin plants in the back yard and he offered to snap some shots. And who am I to pass up a good deal.

I also have recently been trying to master this:

         IMG_2764

It’s a Nikon F3. It was my grandpa’s. My mom wants to use it, so I hijacked it to see if it worked properly. As far as I can tell, it either has a electrical short, or CVS batteries suck. The shutter release and metering system works when you turn it on, but after the first picture is taken, they both shut off. According to the instruction manual, those are the symptoms of a battery shortage. I put brand new batteries in and this is what happens. I may end up taking it to a camera shop to get worked on. If that is, I have to money I’m sure it’s going to take to get it fixed.

Meanwhile, I found a bunch of film and some old disposables in a box at my parents. I’m busy finishing off the cameras so that I can develop them. Hopefully there is something worthwhile.

Dress: hand me down

Sorry for the amazing lack of posts lately. This last week and a half has been ridiculous. We came back from the wedding to a promotion offer for Sean. The problem: it’s in Nashville. We would have to relocate. And soon. The boss needs to know three days ago and we can’t answer until we definitively until we find out if I can transfer Trader Joe’s, which isn’t for another week or so. Oh, by the way, I work at Trader Joe’s. It’s a great job, and would be horrible to give up. However, there is only one TJ’s in Nashville and it is in-de-mand. Cross your fingers for me! I would appreciate it.

Meanwhile, I’ve spent the last day and a half working on my friendship bracelet skills. I’ve really been wasting some quality time. It’s been great.

Long days and pleasant nights.

Love!! Bryce
